History
Chris
started his career in music as a sound engineer at IBC Studios,
London in 1969. IBC was one of the first independent recording studios
in England and spawned some of the world's top engineers - Joe Meek,
Glyn Johns, Damon Lyon-Shaw to name just a few. Damon had just been
voted 'engineer of the year' for his work on 'Tommy' by The Who,
and Chris was fortunate enough to be trained by him on various sessions
in the early years.
Although Chris went on to be a successful guitarist, he kept his
hand in with the occasional engineering project.
In 2000 Chris was asked to engineer Status Quo's CD
'Famous in the Last Century',
and he jumped at the chance, especially because it was Damon's work
with them that had originally given them that distinctive Quo sound.
Chris said "They were one of the biggest bands at IBC, and
it was very satisfying closing the circle".
Since
then Chris has worked with Quo as sound engineer on all their recordings,
including the 'Heavy Traffic','The Riffs' and 'The Party ain't over
yet' and he also remixed
the majority of tracks for David Cassidy's well-received comeback
album 'Then and Now'.
