The best way by car to get to Brightlingsea is from the A120, whether you're coming from London/M25 or from the North via the A14/A12. You can come through Colchester, but it's not to be recommended at rush hour - which seems to be virtually all day these days!

If you're heading up the A12 from the M25, don't take the Colchester exit but continue on towards Ipswich, branching off after you've passed the town onto the A120 for Clacton and Harwich - jn 29 (DON'T be fooled into taking the A120 to Braintree/Stansted, the turning for which is a few miles before Colchester).

If you're approaching from the North on the A12, come off at the Colchester exit, then take a left at the roundabout for Clacton/Harwich onto the A120. Come off the A120 at the Clacton exit and at the roundabout take the second exit (A133) towards Frating and Colchester.

At the crossroads about three-quarters-of-a-mile further on, turn left onto the B1029 (by the Kings Arms pub), cross the level crossing about a mile-and-a-half away, and, when you get to the mini-roundabout at Thorrington, turn right, then immediately left at the adjacent roundabout towards Brightlingsea on the B1027.

From there it's about three miles to the Festival Site, which is located at the lower end of the town in Promenade Way - just follow the signs to the seafront/Festival and you'll be fine.

There's plenty of free parking near the site, but if it gets full up (and it does!) there's overspill parking on the Recreation Ground in Lower Park Road - about half a mile from the stage area. It will be well signposted.

Alternatively, you can visit one of the many online journey planners for more detailed directions.

More locally there is a bus every half hour to Brightlingsea from Colchester bus station and regular trains to Colchester from most surrounding areas. Check your local station for details. The last bus from Brightlingsea to Colchester leaves the town centre (a 5 minute walk from the festival site) at around 11:30pm.
